In 1988 I saw a belgian (tervuren) for the first time at the “Superdogs” competition here in my home town. He gave such a performance that I said “That’s the breed of dog I want!” After I talked with the owner and seen the dog ‘up close’, that was it! I was hooked!

I tried to find any information I could on the breed. I began my search across Canada and the US for that ‘special’ dog, and decided on a dog from the “Gemfire” kennel in Ontario, Canada.

After waiting for my first belgian for about a year, he came to live with me in the summer of 1990. Although he wasn’t breeding quality, he did finish his championship with ease. I’ve never looked back since !

In the fall of 1992, I went back to the “Gemfire” kennel for my foundation bitch, *Grace* who became BIS Can Ch Gemfire’s Poetry In Motion and the #3 Belgian in Canada for 1994!

I decided to breed her late fall of 1994, and she produced my first litter in January of 1995.
Hence Nightfire was born !

I am very proud of what we’ve accomplished, in only a very short period of time:
Best Puppy In Show Winners,
Group Winners,
Multiple Group Placers,
Multiple Puppy Group Winners,
Specialty Best In Sweepstakes Winners,
American and Canadian Champions (some as junior puppies),
and one that is US nationally ranked in the Top Ten.
Also dogs that are going for their obedience and agility titles.

My goal?
To produce happy, healthy, beautiful belgians, that have proper structure for outstanding  MOVEMENT !!! as well as intelligence that, well, sometimes surpasses us humans…..*S* That is the goal that was set for Nightfire, and was the basis of my breeding program!
